I feel the same, Scoot. I have a feeling it’ll just edge out the new Stand Still and Los Campesinos! albums for me. But that new State Faults is absolutely breathtaking, even after a million listens.

this has 2 solid highlights and a frontman with a crippling refusal to sing within his range. State Faults clears it and so does most every other decent record I've heard this year

Hall of Frozen Heads is my early highlight after 1st spin, need at least 2-3 more to give rating because there is so much to unpack

yup, that was the other zinger for me along with Greyhound

Barking and Secret History were probably the most impressive showings for the ratty style they try *very* hard to see through here. Gratitude also an A+ for effort and a polite smile for pushing seven separate directions outside their v evident comfort zone

I'm so fucking excited for this. I really didn't care for Draw Down the Moon so Hell 99 got me going crazy. that mwY Untitled comparison is a crazy high bar too

Johnny just for reference, did you enjoy NMG? That’s my personal favourite of theirs and I’d say it’s dramatically better than their others. Hoping this one tops it, and Greyhound gives me hope

I thought NMG was ~okay - v little about it wowed me (soft spot for Bastardizer though!), but it was competently made and rarely stumbled. Unenthusiastic 3.5, but I'm due a revisit

This one is far less cohesive, far bolder/riskier, has a much higher ceiling but also far lower floor. Shows this band at their best and worst from what I've heard of them (everything apart from the first two)

Hard disagree on that, the title track from that album is one of my favorite Foxing songs
