yea the drums sound a bit jarring but other than that the album isnt that bad. think its on the same level as Time I tbh, not amazing, not terrible, just decent. idk. the fact it took this long to release THIS of all things is absolute insanity tho lol

Forest Seasons and Time I are absolute dog vomit. I can see why people hate this but its honestly just a step below the s/t for me.

" I respect your opinion and I don't care if someone rates this low. I do believe there are gonna be a lot of certified hater ratings though coming from people annoyed with everything surrounding this dude the past decade or so. Jari is a clown for sure but I have to admit I like this more than I expected to"
ya there'll be plenty of that - a big reason why i wrote the review is because i wanted to make my rationale clear. i don't agree with people rating it low for no reason - just rate how you feel. additionally don't let me influence you, glad yall like it more than i do.

What's annoying about this review isn't the rating or anything like that, it's that it was the first one posted and that it's taking up all the views of anyone coming to this site looking for an opinion on it. As someone who agrees that Jari is absolutely dumb for taking this long to release this material, I have to agree that dying on the hill of "the production is poor but the songs themselves are good = 1.5 rating" isn't *necessarily* my idea of a fair review but I mean, everybody's entitled to their own opinion, and if the production hurts it that much for you, then yeah, rate it what you want. It def influenced the score tanking to begin with tho (it seems to be equalizing a bit now that people are hearing it).
That said, why the hell he couldn't have just released the tracks 14 years ago and then done subsequent remixes/remasters down the line to perfect them doesn't make a ton of sense to me. The songs themselves are rad as hell, but it def didn't need this long in the oven. Especially when there are obvious flaws in the production regardless lol

Eh it's rare but I've definitely had albums that could've been decent but the production bothered me so much it pretty much made it un-enjoyable

i didn't say the music was good in the review. i said there's good musicianship, which is true. i quite clearly stated that there was problems musically as well, particularly in the structuring and songs running out of ideas pretty quickly and the fatigue of this is only enhanced by the production - as a package that's simply how i felt. if an album is tedious to begin with, bad production is only going to multiply that by 10.

I don't understand the complaint about this being the review getting the views.
- There is another review up on this site, but it also rates the record 1.5
- Should the first review up always be a positive one?
- I think the average ranking will be the first thing most people see.
- People should just listen and judge for themselves, not putting too much faith in any one review.
- Speaking of that, I will give this a spin after lunch. No hangry spins allowed!

I pos'd!!! I'm also very iffy on most melodeath which is another reason why I'm shocked by how much I dig this. The bombastic cheese of power metal (another genre that I hate 90% of the time) actually is what makes this so good for me though lol. And I actually really love Jari's cleans here. He can still fornicate himself with a baseball bat but man I love this album lmao.

for what it's worth @hawks i think you'll actually really like the time i 2.0 master - it sounds identical to this and is more riffy, way more guitar driven and it gives it a very different character. i prefer the original but that's just me and my weird taste. i'd recommend giving it a go when it's released in a couple of weeks.

>Storm could’ve used louder growls
this seems to be the case in a few different songs, another reason why releasing this years prior and making changes down the line would've been a better call imo, letting fans listen and offer feedback and all

that i'll agree with yeah - definitely needs cutting down to size though. 'silver leaves' could have absolutely been cut in half and nothing would have been lost. better production, less maximalism and letting the ideas breathe and some cuts here and there would have made a world of difference.
