Teeth, Concrete Winds, Gutvoid and Phenocryst all release new material this Friday. Cosmic Putrefaction, Siderean and Ingurgitating Oblivion in September. Gigan, Blood Incantation, Disentomb, Maul, Carnosus and Opeth in October. Defeated Sanity and Veilburner in November. Possibly new Inferi before the end of the year. It. Never. Ends.
The smaller labels like Profound Lore, 20 Buck Spin and Transcending Obscurity seem to be in a good place and keep pumping out solid to excellent releases at a steady rate, while the bigger ones like Willowtip and SoM have been on a multi-year streak regarding both their signing choices and the quality of their output at this point.
In short, it looks like death metal’s general popularity has reached new heights, possibly only rivaled by the golden age circa '89 to '96.
