I certainly haven't. This is album of the year for me unless something really blows my mind.

I suppose it being split into two parts made discussion kinda weird. Oh well.
@Prophet totally agreed, this will be up there for sure. Though I might like part 1 a tiiiiiiiny bit more.

This is 100% album of the year unless Make Them Suffer's upcoming album is as good as the singles have been the whole way through

yea i'll never understand why they split this into two releases
|
| |
i think the idea when bands do this is that it'll "prolong" discussion or interest in the band/album as if its like parts 1 & 2 of a tv season, but ultimately feel like it backfires pretty much every time.
only time i can ever remember something like that kinda working is when denzel curry released taboo in three parts three fridays in a row. and even that felt so janky

I personally appreciate the fact that they split this album up into two parts. a) more exposure/ working with the algorithm is a smart idea, b) their music is so technically dense that to release it all at once would have been overwhelming, c) I feel like the back half has a distinct, heavier feel to it.

hard disagree that just over an hour of music for fans of this type of music would be overwhelming. they also originally advertised it as a "double album" when both parts combined are the same exact length as their last album. which then led to my disappointment over the length. had it been two one hour albums or something, I would be more okay with it.
|
| |
I never really got the reason why they released these separately, even when Aric made an account here to explain it lol
These are obviously one album where both halves were released separately. I just listened to this now with different headphones and it hit just as hard as it did the first 10 spins.
"Sput slept on this big time."
hard agree

Ooohhhh shit there’s more????

Saw these dudes open for tool. Crazy talent. Kinda like a musical sledgehammer to the face. Perfect opening band - I probably would get bored of a whole show of theirs though.
|
| |
Tool blows so fucking hard but these guys rule. Idk why I haven't heard this yet I'm fucking up.
|
| |
I like Tool.

Good stuff yeah

Sorry, I really can't get into just instrumentals, doesn't do it for me
|
| |
Instrumental music, at least rock and metal, forces artists to use a larger musical toolkit to make interesting songs. Soooo many of my favorite bands are instrumental. It all started when I saw Pelican open for Circa Survive and the rest is history
|
| |
Pelican is amazing. Tool still blows.
|
| |
Like polyphias last album this shit gets massively dragged down by the guest vocalists and writing to accommodate them
|
| |
Hawks, y tho?
|
| |
tool getting these guys to open for them is kinda based (band is steaming dogshite, but their track record for picking support acts is one of their best redeeming features)
