This sounds like music that a band would make under a pseudonym for the ingame Cyberpunk 2077 radio by half-assing it with D-sides they picked off the cutting room floor for a paycheque. Faux-edgy. Faux progressive genre blending.

“grunge and nu-metal are the worst kinds of guitar music and somehow the lame wits in chode orange decided to embrace both
like, fucking hell, guys
fucking hell“
Couple that with the Kids-era stuff being more emo/post-hardcore and you have a band tailored made to piss off the kinds of dudes who use this site it kinda rules

Moments like the ending of The Game are what I came for. Sadly few and far between. This thing loses steam every time they veer from the djunz

the first leg of this thing is fucking horrible. It gets much better with Mirror but good lord those first four tracks are dreadful

It’s like, there’s so many good ideas, and everyone in the band is clearly talented, but they just cannot string those ideas together into anything cohesive. So many songs here feel so fucking disjointed.
It’s honestly aggravating to me how often this band has a good groove going only for it to descend into brain dead chugging or god awful vocal melodies, if you can even call some of them that.

Also there’s no fucking reason for this to be over 50 minutes. They could easily chop off ten minutes of bullshit and have a better record for it
If you took like the four best songs off each of their last three records you’d have a decent alt metal album. It’s really insane to me that they actually do make pretty good radio friendly shit but when they throw down they get so much worse. I can’t think of a single other band where the “clearly made for radio singles” are substantially better than the heavy shit
And don’t diss the cyberpunk soundtrack. It’s got probably the best metal station in any video game I’ve ever played

I do agree that they could trim this by 10 min

They should have cut out the first 6 songs. The first half here was terrible with very few redeeming qualities.

Aside from Mirror I kinda agree. And I got Mask of Sanity Slips mixed up with Drone Opting Out of the Hive earlier. Mask of Sanity is decent, Drone is fucking terrible.
Album is extremely back heavy. Snapshot is pretty fucking good I’ll admit. The Game goes hard as fuck too, and Grooming My Replacement ain’t bad either.
Really dig the last two tracks too tbh

I actually like the first 6 songs
I kinda like all of this
If I was like 20 years younger I might say something like "Code Orange is forever" but I won't

Grooming My Replacement is by far the best song here. Snapshot is also pretty good and The Game is alright. Everything else though ranges from decent but completely forgettable to downright awful.

I haven't listen enough to really give an overall opinion but a few observations. The first two tracks are great. I think it was a mistake making some of the best songs on the album singles. Mirror grew on me. I've been hearing Corgan had a lot of direct influence on this album and after listen to Jami's singing style on here it's shows, I'm so far neutral on whether I like it yet it or not. I don't have too much input on the back half of the album yet since I've only went through it once. Grooming my Replacement is one the best songs they've written though.
