I get some mbv (2013) vibes from the first half and Chained to a Cloud. Have to give more listens but Shanty is my fav I’m thinking.
Could’ve used even more electronics I think.

The vocals on Andalucia Plays is the only time the magic breaks for me. And putting an instrumental second shows the regard the band have for it. Actually, Andalucia would have been a beautiful instrumental too...

Yeah Prayer Remembered does sound like Hammock. A standard but nice sounding and well done post-rock instrumental. Andalusia Plays sounds a bit like something from Twin Peaks in parts of the beginning. On second listen Alife is my fav. Chained to a Cloud is in the top 3. Skin in the Game isn’t one if my favs but the outro is an album highlight.

It’s like a massage for my eardrums. So orgasmic and lush. I was not a fan of skin in the game prior to release. The production and all felt a little strange and sounded kinda wonky and off sounding. But after starting from shanty and going to the end, by that point I was perfectly in tune with the album. Sounds just as glorious as the rest. I am slowly becoming obsessed with this.

Also this is far beyond anything mbv gave us in 2013. I found that to be a major letdown. Self titled Slowdive was far beyond that as is. This is about as good as self titled. Mbv 2013 is like a 2.5-3/5
