Gonna listen to this while working today. Have never liked this band so I’m expecting to love this.

I’ve been stuck in this mode of “oh X band is releasing a new album!” And I know exactly what to expect and it all feels very uninteresting. Even the ‘Avant Garde’ black metal stuff all feels very typical now. So this felt like a breath of fresh air honestly. Dying for more variety and experimentation

G is so fun, it's absurd. wish it was longer but repeats are working just fine.
this album as a whole might be Syn's best work tbh

I'm on We Love You now and am kind of coasting because I've heard it before, but I'll say that it fits much better in context.
It's so odd that these guys are only just now reaching their creative apex, but I love it so far.

I have to listen to this with these ratings but I've never even enjoyed a whole a7x album lol

Between this and The Stage, it's absolutely crazy to think that these are the same guys who put out Hail to the King

I could see this growing into my favourite album of theirs or at least close second after Nightmare.

^I was trying to hold off on making a similar comment because I'm only halfway though my first listen, but I feel the same (except this would be topping my previous three way tie between Waking the Fallen, City of Evil, and The Stage for #1).
Still a lot of music left to hear but if this keeps up, the 4.5 review score feels absolutely justified. And I was quite skeptical.

its all a matter of purpose with these guys. they could've dropped this type of album in 2005 if they wanted to... this was always in there dna

Same. After hearing the singles, I thought this was going to be a rough listen but somehow it all worked.

Considering how proggy the back half of CoE was, I certainly don't doubt that
