Does anyone actually like the closer and if so why I legit don’t get that one at all

It's probably too long but it's actually quite soothing if you don't zone in too much on it.

No Ars. The only argument for it I've heard (inc. from me) is 'well, at least it doesn't happen in the middle of the album / disrupt the flow'. I have since decided this doesn't give it a pass. Useless.
|
| |
Nah, that’s a minimizing representation of my opinion of it. I do think if it was placed elsewhere it wouldn’t work but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it at all. I think it’s a nice credits crawl.

“actually quite soothing if you don't zone in too much on it.”
Which is the entire point imo. Also if you’ve sat through Old Dreams or… honestly most of Tomorrow In A Year you should at this point come to expect some kind of challenge to your patience / perceptions of conventional music experience from any The Knife / Fever Ray album.

it doesn't challenge my perception of conventional music in any way, it's just dull - I'd give it more credit in that sense if it was placed at an unwieldy juncture in all honesty, then it WOULD be challenging
|
| |
If you think it’s too long then it is challenging your perspective of music conventions chief
|
| |
And it’s not even very long
|
| |
People have expectations of the length and dynamism of a closing track and what that slots purpose is in the context of an album. Those ideas are in opposition of the intent of bottom of the ocean. The critique is “it’s boring and long” but it’s not meant to be exciting and short. Thus perspectives challenged.

It’s long “for what it is” more than it is long in a vacuum
Like I love plenty of songs twice the length
Though tbh I still wouldn’t like it if it was 3 mins so maybe that’s a moot point
|
| |
I’m not saying that that’s meant to make it “good” or “enjoyable” as I wouldn’t say Old Dreams is either of those things either, nor is a lot of the content of Tomortow, In A Year, I’m just saying that it’s probably not the point.
|
| |
Is a new age spa mix meant to be short and exciting? No, but that’s not the point.

Eh understandable , though I love legit all of disc 2’s long songs on TiaY

I don’t have any qualm with not appreciating it. Just sayin that you’ll probably get more out of it if you adjust your perspective a bit. I listened to the album my first time in bed with my eyes closed which automatically put me in a state that was better to receive bottom of the ocean. It was like being lulled to sleep and peace after the emotional ride of the rest of the album. It felt nice. I didn’t need to focus any longer and just decompress.
