Great CD, but I think it seems to falter a bit towards the end. I'll have to give it a couple more listens to see if it's just me.
Anyways, Giles and Sanctity of Brothers are just plain kickass. Love those songs.

There's no way it falters near the end. So It Goes and Bled Dry are some of the best songs on the album.

Yeah, like I said, I still need to give it a few more listens. I'm sure I'll end up liking those songs as well.
Anyways, this is my first album from these guys, and I've heard that their other CD, The Oncoming Storm, is better. Anyone have any opinions on that? I heard one song from it, Zombie Autopilot, and I liked that.

Big Bear and The Hour of Chaos is a really good song, it provides a nice break from their usual routine in the fact you can chill out to it. Underrated song

Nice review, however I don't find this to be the quintessence of metal as you hype it to be. Decent album however, i happen to be listening to So It Goes right now

These guys NEED a better vocalist, whoever's doing it now plain sucks.

I don't think he's bad, but if he was replaced with someone like Phil Labonte or Randy Blythe I'd have constant orgasms.

I also agree with the vocalist comment. He definetly needs to improve on his range, he doesn't need to clean sing but maybe a higher pitched scream like some death metal vocalist do.

This album is so fkn amazing. Giles is an awesome song, and the breakdown riff with the sweeps in it is amazing. The album is just awesome from the start. My favorite breakdown is probably the one on Unstoppable. When he's like "Concede the loss of some to fuel" and the music stops, and he's all "THE UNSTOPPABLE!" and then bam, a fuckin' sick breakdown. Also, Big Bear And The Hour Of Chaos, that's such a good song.
Before I forget, Ken Susi deserves a lot more credit. Buz is good, but Ken is just as good. Also, Ken wrote most of this album, while Buz wrote most of TOS.

Nah, as far as breakdowns go, I don't think you can beat the last one in Bled Dry. It's such a powerful way to bring the album to a close.

By "the last one" do you mean that like, dark riffing pattern follwed up by the chugga chugga? Or are you referring to that really quick tremolo picked breakdown?

I'm talking about the very last one. The slow, epic, almost doom metal-esque guitar riffing. It's simply crushing and I thought it was a really cool way to put an end to the "normal" songs. Big Bear and the Hour of Chaos is still cool, but I think it could have been placed in the middle of the album, maybe around track 8 or so and it woudl have served its purpose better.

Yeah, that breakdown is pretty sick too. It really leads into Big Bear, I thought. It almost sounds like they're going down the scale into the open note that starts Big Bear.

does anyone else here think that All That Remains' "Fall of Ideals" is better than this?

I think this better, but this is my favorite metalcore album. The Fall of Ideals is in 2nd place.

Best metalcore album EVAR.
Probably the best metal album of the year, too.
