got an advance copy of the new alb and i think it's prob my fav since deathless. feels like they fully hit on the dm sound finally. it's got some of the fun and liveliness of their earlier stuff without the cheese. no real surprises (other than maybe "the all seeing" being a complete riff fiesta of an instrumental) so it's still just revocation but the songwriting feels on point. lot of very catchy riffs which i thought was less prevalent in their last few. just a gosh dang fun album!!!

My appreciation for this band just keeps growing so I'm stoked to hear the new one is a banger. Can't wait to hear it in full.

I'm too lazy to write the review myself but I'm really loving the record that just dropped. Netherheaven was good not great but they're back up

well time to drop that to a 3 huh

Almost done with first listen. Many great riffs best tracks easily are 1, 2, and 4. Peaks higher than Netherheaven but honestly just as many forgettable moments on first impression.

Definitely liking the new one more than their last

Still like this one better, in terms of the songs themselves. Production on the new one is spot on though.

Might need to give Netherheaven another try but I just remember finding it really boring for the most part, especially compared to the The Outer Ones
|
| |
Well I ended up giving this another listen today and it actually clicked a little bit

This kills Outer Ones imo. Also like it more than the new one so far.

the outer ones beats this just for the t/t alone. prob the best revo track. although i think both albums aren’t as good as their older stuff (and the newest)

T/t is sweet for sure but I don't like it quite that much lol.
Other than Outer Ones, which is still excellent, I don't really find their newer albums weaker than their older stuff. Just different. These days I'd say Great is Our Sin is on par with Deathless, def underrated album imo. Not sure where to rank their newest one, but I definitely like this more.

I always felt that Outer Ones leaned the most into their "progressive" tendencies, and this one leaned the most into their death metal tendencies. New one is more of an even mix maybe? Either way, these guys give me supreme burnout after one album listen. Cannot do back-to-back album runs.

Damn that sucks @ burnout. I've definitely never felt that way about any Revo album. Does that extend to individual songs too? Like if you really enjoyed certain tracks, can you repeat those? Or can you just not listen to anything off that album for a period?

It probably equates to about 50 minutes of straight Revo tech thrash before I have to give it a rest, and I tend to listen to albums over playlists/shuffles. That's not a negative comment on the musical quality, more so my need for variety.
Could probably listen to Bound By Desire on repeat though. Teratogenesis was their peak imo.
