There is a song called "We Are Fucking Fucked" – it kinda sounds like it's trying to be old Muse + post-punk, and it opens pretty cool and nostalgic and all... until the main line of the chorus comes in over what sounds like a melody straight from The Munsters, eventually followed by a Queen-esque bridge rip-off.
Then everything in this review suddenly makes sense.

Suprised about Ghosts, such a scaled back song. Which has been retty non-existent over the last 16years

Best vocal performance from Bellamy since 2nd Law (which was his peak just by the amount and sheer technical quality of high full voice notes)

The Queen-isms are one of the worst things about modern Muse, but ofc they had to indulde in it again

This is awful.
It's like B wrote a bunch of cheesy lyrics and they decided to badly drape songs around them but they didn't try all that hard because why would you with those lyrics.

Only good think about this album is the cover. (I haven't listened to it)

Embracing the ridiculousness is part of being a fan of Muse, and has been for quite some time. Some point to what they're doing as a sign of an utter lack of self-awareness, but I suspect it's the exact opposite; they know precisely how off the rails they are, and they are leaning into it as hard as they can. It doesn't surprise me that reactions are all over the map, but I agree with the reviewer on most points.

okay so here's the thing
it's not a very good album
but at the same time I kinda love it lmao

For someone who never really stepped into Muse territory besides every now and then, even me thinks this feels like a cover band that's been listening to a whole lot of Muse. This doesn't tickle or fill spaces that I expect them to do and if it's just them trying to go for a completely new musical experience, I honestly think this just kinda sucks.

Basically, yeah. Its completely off the rails, I need some shit like this from time to time and only Muse can fully provide

don't worry Sowing, in a couple years you'll probably love it

Yep, this band has always tried too hard, but it's somehow devolved to self-parody these days. They're just so corny and pointlessly melodramatic now and the vapid political-ish stuff is so lame

how the fuck did that complete trash halloween song make this album? lmao

I can't think of another band that has tanked as hard Muse.
This is complete garbage.

It was pretty clear that everything good about this band was dead when Resistance came out, I’m kind of shocked it took an additional 4 terrible albums for people to finally just accept it
