Yeah Mars its a bit bleak. There where two runs of the book the first one(one ive got) had some editing mistake or something second fixed that. I dont know if you can still buy the physical one yet

I'd like to get my hands on it, or at least check it virtually. I'm into that bleak sort of style lately, it's infecting my work too lol

I think a lot of it was written in Dissociation days when Greg was reaaaaally unwell

Seems to be, I read up on it. I use poetry myself as a coping mechanism, so I'm interested to see his approach too. Sometimes you have to expel that darkness somehow, and getting it on a page can be very therapeutic.

I think if this were more focused, it'd be an all time favorite. Every song here is awesome, the vocals and arrangements are awesome, it just feels a bit all over the place stylistically. Great record regardless

That surprises me, I think there is a pretty clear theme here that the songs are attached to. The odd mam out potentially is "We," but off the back of the more gaze-y cut of "Lowered," it works great as an extension of that atmosphere of longing.

Heres one i had on my note pad
I take the world personally
Taking blame like a flame to myself
Whether its real or mere delusion
Bearing my standard
Raising it high on the battlefield of self illusion
A flag Ill never be able to fly
For I can never meet my own measure
Cruel and harsh upon myself
Is pain my pleasure?
Is this why I wage war on myself?
Perhaps Ill never know as
I stand alone on the killing fields
Surrounded by corpses thats share my face
Just another body to add to the pile
Maybe one day Ill find my saving grace

Cheers have a whole instagram page for it after a friend told me I should do that. My intial covid poem had kids using their mothers entrails as a maypole and father being flayed was bleak

Definitely an improvement over Child Soilder for me (makes me wanna revisit it), awesome album. Much prefer how cohesive it is instead of Greg flinging influences he likes at the wall and the emphasis on not using his screeches.
