I fuckin love Mr Usher project lol. it's so much more fun and dynamic than anything on here. I think the fact that it's just about a great and interesting character really sets it apart from the info-dump table-setting this album does for 50 minutes
I can see why Casey would not like Act 2 in retrospect, it can get pretty raw and ugly at points but that's exactly what makes it so good. 5 is better in terms of musicianship and production, but it still doesn't hit all the emotional bullseyes 2 does nothing but hit

Act 2 isn't without it's cringe moments, but that's all part of the charm. Smiling Swine puts the biggest grin on my face. I've seen them twice and I was half expecting Red Hands to be an encore (or closer, since they openly admitted that encores are lame lol). It's the one song I'd love to see played live, not sure why they refuse to play it.

Far as I know Casey dislikes Red Hands because it was written really early on and was inspired by an ugly breakup and came completely from a place of spite and immaturity, a sentiment that he doesn't stand by at all anymore. If I recall, it wasn't even originally written as a part of the Acts story but instead came from him personally to his ex, then he tweaked it and inserted it into the Act II story. In retrospect I can imagine the cringe he'd feel having to recite lyrics as frankly childish as those again.
To be honest Red Hands ain't even that great a song and is FAR from the best thing on here, let alone the "defining" TDH song or whatever.

I don't really think I've cared for much since Act 2. I listened to the first single from this and I think I'm good

Sinus problem or not, Act 2 is my favourite album by them vocally. There's something raw and powerful behind the likes of The Lake and The River, The Church and The Dime, The Red Hands, The Bitter Suite, The Black Sandy Bea... Man there's a lot of the's in Act 2.
But yeah, I like Casey's vocals a lot in that, and the gang vocals are super fun too. Need to revisit that album again soon.

"He's so much better, they're all much better. Take off your sweater your shoes and your shirt and get to work" is a pretty juvenile line if you ask me lol.
Also "you can't be caught red handed if you're not red handed" always been kinda goofy let's be honest haha.

Nah that line rules! Top 3 TDH moment right there too, next to The Lake and The River's middle section and the chorus in The Fire.

Tbh the main character's reaction is totally juvenile and that's kind of the point of these lines. The protagonist is acting shitty and juvenile and making bad decisions

Ring 5 - Middle Class gives me the best kinda Migrant vibes and I'm all for it. I'm tempted to bump the whole album to a 4 just because of that 1 song, it's insanely good.

No desire to return to this whatsoever. I should just to be fair to a band I love, but if this doesn't sound much better the 2nd time around then I'm knocking my score down.

Give it time Sowing, I felt the same on my first few listens. But I popped it on in the background whilst working this morning and was surprised how things were starting to hit on this. Kinda reminds me of how I felt with most of Migrant at first, this album is a grower.
To be fair the first couple of tracks don't leave the best impression, and I think that's why it wasn't exciting me a fat lot.

Okay truth be told, production is really great here. Was planning to give this a 3 but finally listening to it on a decent pair of headphones (dt 990 600ohm edition here) and it's really sweeee.
Idk, gonna listen to this more but so far don't really see it growing higher
