Kyo's vocal style might take a little warming up to. I really didn't like him at first but over the years he has become my favorite vocalist.

All this Dir chatter makes me tempted to finally make a Dir live ranked list.

Unless someone is already metalhead, I usually recommend Withering to Death as a good starting point. The hooks and riffs on that album are just so damn catchy, the vocals are definitely on par with later material (we forgot how high some of those clean chorus's are), and also that album has hands-down my favorite Diru song: Itoshisa ha fuhai ni tsuki

However if they are a metalhead, obviously just jump right in to Uroboros and DSS

Listened to a few songs, some really good guitar stuff going on and great harshes. Cleans just really, really off-putting for me. Hate them.

Youll grow to like em, he has a unique voice, hence why he is a part of so many bands, so many musicians want to work with him

I don't think Kyo's cleans are especially good on this album, there's too much studio stuff going on imo, I had the same criticism about the cleans in TIW. They're not bad, but they're not the best he can do I think.

I've been listening to Dir en Gray since I was at the School and I remember searching and accidentally finding them on the School's computer. The first song together with a clip I don't remember if it was I'LL or Akuro no Oka. I've been following them ever since. I learned to sing the songs, play. I listened to the Albums, I watched the Shows. I liked it a lot because it was always a unique band. The look caught my attention but I saw that they were much more than just visuals but had a unique sound. I've seen the sound over the years from Rock to Metal. I love both. But... I can't explain but Arche, Insulated World and now Phalaris... These 3 albums already had songs in a matter of numbers that I liked less... Phalaris was the first album I don't like as a all unfortunately. It looks like they mixed up the old and the new yet something was missing. The only song I liked was Kamuy as a personal taste. When I said a little comment on YouTube saying only "I liked Kamuy but I didn't like the album as a whole for the first time". An Asian fanatic said I had a rotten ear and I laughed. But I see that in the end I'm not wrong because I know it's a matter of taste but if I evaluated it it's because I've loved many Dir's albums.
