4 songs in and this rules so far idk

also don’t think anyone over the mental age of 14 thinks it’s not ok to like generic music but i truly don’t see how this could be deemed generic. sounds lazy and in bad faith

4 songs in, lmk when you get to the end how you feel about the middle. The homestretch is pretty awesome.

There are some generic songs but as a whole it’s definitely not generic considering how many different styles are going on

The middle third is def the weakest, love Purple Hearts and Count Me Out though

Father Time might be the only track here that I genuinely like.

This isn't generic but it's pretty fuckin far from how dense and carefully thought out To Pimp A Butterfly was

There's like 3 simplistic bangers on this whole thing and people heard those 3 and decided to write this whole album off as a "generic mainstream" album

People got to Die Hard and were like “fuck it it’s generic”

Father Time, Savior and Purple Hearts are probably my favorite on here. Love Mother I Sober and Mr Morale as well.

"But this isn't generic lol"

idk if you throw on rap caviar right now i guarantee its its 50 rich spirit / silent hill / savior type tracks

the bulk of this is either pretty standard 2022 pop rap or coffee house npr bullshit with the only thing saving it from that a lot of the time being kendrick's crazy flows and vocal inflections.

I feel like he threw in bangers and r+b sex songs to satisfy casuals. The "OMG LOVE IS THE BEST SONG ON DAMN, DUCKWORTH IS TRASH" types. He didn't cater to anyone on TPAB at all. I didn't want another TPAB or GKMC its mainly the forgettable filler that brought this down for me.
