im dropping my rating by 0.5 cause the cheesiness is at times overwhelming, but this is still a solid-ass release and one of my favourites of the year so far

Oh yeah, you can 100% tell he’s trained in musical theatre. For me that’s a strength cause my other music love is showtunes, but (to go back to Boney’s point on Let Me Drown too) I get why that can be too much for people. But again, to say he can’t sing is just . . . Like objectively incorrect

I’m generally not a fan of showy/theatric singing (the only showtunes I enjoy are Lambchop’s ;-P) but it’s only an issue for me on “Let Me Drown” where he really revels in the hamminess. It’s not bad per se it just doesn’t totally appeal to me.
