I actually agree with Colton that the human angle makes the song more powerful, but it’s written in such a way to allow for that interpretation, as well as the real story about his pet.
Just think about the fact that Colton and most other people (including me) assume on an initial listen that the song is about losing a person you care about deeply, I don’t think that’s an accident.

oh for sure, i think that's my favorite kind of writing. there's a song i don't remember now, but it's about a toxic love, and it's never quite clear whether it's about a person or substance abuse. Emotion goes first, then context.

Looks like I might’ve been too harsh on these guys in the past.
Album is a complete mess but in the best way possible. I’ll check their earlier stuff out soon.
Also, anybody complaining about the sound quality hasn’t heard actual low fi punk. This sounds fine.

Totally Fine, Robot Writes a Love Song, Matilda, Waiting, and Bankruptcy are all certified bangers, and Four Chords is the perfect opener. This is the easiest album to like that I've heard this year and I haven't even fully familiarized myself with every track yet.
