Mabuta no Ura has their name stylized all lowercase and is certainly one of their "softy" releases...

It's confirmed right here

"Another important concept in the band's aesthetic is the idea of "uppercase" and "lowercase" Boris. According to Atsuo, if the band's name appears as "BORIS" on the record cover, the music is a relatively conventional dose of rock or metal. If the name appears as "Boris" or "boris," then, the music is most likely an experimental recording."

So it's conventional or experimental, not 'soft or heavy'. That makes more sense.

Keep coming back to this, so good

Given the breadth of their discography, a Boris album being underrated isn’t bad company.

I think if you condensed their discography to like 12 albums, it would probably be a top 3 run of all time

I half agree and half think that the variance you'd get within any two people's bottom four placements speaks volumes for dat overall consistencybaseline

imo if a band is partially Melvins-inspired then half their discog is a wreck and that's just part of the charm

i can't remember anything boris released in the previous decade but im sure it's cool lol

about the same level as No tbh, but that one didn't have much staying power and the new one is silly and fun so i prefer !
