"They took 10 steps back with Erase Me and then took maybe 1 or 2 steps forward from there. Still not anywhere close to DTGL, Disam, or LITSOS. But eh, whatever. I'm glad that some people are enjoying this at least."
It isn't close to those albums but they sure as hell took more than two steps forward from that atrocity.

More like leaned forward as a facade that there is progress

The instrumentation is still a huge step down when compared to their pre breakup material. I don't get when people say this is dasmbiguation 2.0, like really? That album has some real technical moments. Everything here seems basic in comparison.
That being said, I do enjoy the album. I even liked Erase Me for what it was. But ya, in comparison to their previous work, both these albums haven't lived up to the hype.

Is Voyeurist even a word. Voyeur is already a noun. Saying Voyeurist is like saying Voyeureur

I am just happy we have "real" Underoath back. Musically this album was not the most technical, it was rather simplistic, but that is the reason I personally liked it as much as I do. Less is more to me. Lot of new music coming out has bands trying to out-tech or even overplay as musicians. Underoath went back to there roots with this new joint and kept it simple and I love that. So if you are looking for a overproduced, overplayed, technical mess, this album is not for you.

I've seen videos where just Spencer and Aaron were doing UO acoustic sets. I'd be willing to bet that's why the music is so much simpler now, because they're contributing to the writing more. I wish Tim would take over again. Also, it's very difficult to tell Spencer and Aaron's vocals apart nowadays.

Yes they’re embarrassing on all fronts and the people who made their music good are hardly contributing it’s sad.

I've never listened to this band for it's lyrics lol. I can barely understand them most of the time.
I will admit the "This is fucking hell" line is pretty cringe tho

Disambiguation was definitely them at their peak and their most mature release. It's strange because Spencer's vocals and lyrics on that were incredible. Ever since then he just seems like an angsty teenager who's trying to be some ex-christian edgelord.

That's the best part of the song too, along with him screaming HALLELUJAAHHHHH in the background while that cheesy ass choir sings. Lame song but that one moment was dope lol

It’s better than Erase Me at least but not anywhere near the quality of their 2000’s output.

If there's ever been a regression of a lyricism it's here. How the fuck do you go from writing My Deteriorating Incline to We're All Gonna Die?
