This is insanely long so will take ages to digest, but i think it's a pretty strong album. it's so packed with rhythmic ideas. I noticed that the first masstaden had 16 tracks, so maybe they wanted to 1-up themselves? It honestly feels more like a file dump than an album haha, but its a sick file dump.

Tbh as well, i think Vildhjarta are one of only a tiny handful of djent-ish bands that have risen above the meshuggah copycat status - these guys 100% have their own thing going, have done for like 14 years. And i think meshuggah would respect them honestly

måsstadens nationalsång (under vatten) is a huge track (anyone else notice the easter egg from the intro of Dagger? at 1:50, and lavendar haze, and passage noir are massive tracks too. it's just tough sifting out the best ones.

Also for people saying all the songs sound the same, listen to passage noir again. And vildhjarta vocals were never the highlight, but honestly this has quite a bit of variety vocal wise

Also for people saying all the songs sound the same...

I'm in that boat. This is way too much of the same good thing. I can listen to this album in quarters and really enjoy it. After that, it all starts to blur together.

bands like SikTh, Tesseract, AAL or Periphery have introduced melody and harmony to the Meshuggah djent template so they are hardly copycats at all. I understand the hate to Periphery and Spencer's vocals but the other bands I mentioned should be respects just as much as Vildhjarta.

Honestly sikth beat these guys for me even though their last album didn't impress me like their first 2 albums did. They're special.

Sikth beats any band in this whole "djent" genre, or whatever the fuck you wanna call it if we don't include Meshuggah.

I know, it's laughable to even entertain that meshuggah is anywhere near sikths level of entertainment.

I can tolerate some Meshuggah songs, but as a whole, they fucking suck. Most of their songs are long and drawn out to a mind numbing degree... no thanks
