I'd check yourself, gyro; Thrice have fuckin lost it, these guys keep getting sharper, even if they're channelling their ambition down a different avenue now

"that closer is the worst thing to come out of this era of Trophy Scars, period"
Never Born or August 1980? For the record, I disagree if it's either.

Never Born; August 1980 is a bonus track

Idk Johnny - your 3.9 doesn't exactly inspire confidence, you're clearly holding back a bit

"I'm ngl a part of me also wants to dehype their stuff a bit because every time a new EP or album comes out the Sput community just insta 5s it. Kind of similar to Thrice in that regard"
Lol sorry Gyro, looks like you're gonna have to wait another album cycle to get your Palms-brand validation

I mean, I don't think this is a runaway 5 or whatever but I'm still loving my time with this more and more. First impression was mixed, so I'm bumping in increments going upwards - take that as tentative hype if you will and let the userbase have their crazy hours. This shit ain't no Adjy

Biggest issue with this one is it doesn't have the SONG that blows the fucking roof off, everything else from the blues era got at least one.
Years So Much, Sad Stanley, Never Dead, Everything Disappearing, or even post hiatus tracks, as sick as Brother and Father pt. II are, nothing here is as good as Panic Machine

Yeah, agreed. I feel that Sister does p well paring a Trazadone-style climax into something shorter and nastier, but I wish that Father 2 at least went a little further with that finale

The only song I remember off of HV is Qeres, which seemed at least 10x better than anything else on that album

Sad Stanley is an obvious one but idk about Years So Much, I always thought Nola was the obvious standout

Qeres is maybe the best cheap thrills blues song on HV, but it doesn't hold up to reduce the whole alb to that
And yh tbh, if anything Years feels like one epic too many after Toronto and Nola

Nola's prob another one tbh just had to limit it to one so NBND didn't ruin the point
Years' dark glass clink barroom sulk vibe with angry outbursts brings something new enough to the end of Bad Luck to work it, plus got the best straining emo vox on the record that still carries that side over from the post hardcore

Years So Much is too fucking good. Butttt Nola is also top tier. Hmmmm. Meanwhile Toronto is like a fine whiskey
