Yeah this guy is churlish and seems like he has a pathological need to be a contrarian except the problem he isnt nearly as clever as he thinks he is and his jokes end up coming off as sophomoric and surly

"The self reflection parts are generally both less funny and less insightful than the comedy parts of this :/"

yeah the "self-reflection" stuff is so laughably surface-level and uninteresting that i almost somehow like the comedy parts more

that said, white woman's instagram (with the goofy visuals ofc) was one of the few funny parts of the special

the visuals were kinda cool in terms of being the single most impressive instance of the "Inside"/single-room concept, and maybe a couple of them were genuinely "ah, that is something I'd see on instagram"-type funny, but I'd say it was an annoying joke to draw out and that the song itself "musically" is just like bad musical type shit, can't imagine it as a featured track on an album that someone would call good

He's ironically better at Making A Point when he isn't trying to do it so concertedly, that's why the worst thing here is "Healing the World With Comedy"- it has the cadence of a joke but really its just him trying to do commentary with a bunch of fucking annoying lantern-hanging to try and evade scrutiny

idk, hate to say it but kinda think the recent-ish instantiation of the "white woman" comedy trope is played out. I mean obviously that's so broad a category that it's hard to judge one way or the other, but shit got old after the whole pumpkin spice latte uggs jokes came through. he's years late on a joke that's not that good anyways (trying not to be Woke about it)

worse is the cloying melody tho. cmon

yeah but it has a decently clever twist with the way he contrasts the banality of his initial observations with the earnestness of the bridge. melody is tongue in cheek but I like it

The album is sort of skip worthy but my rating mostly reflects the special

The album might be like a 2

haven’t heard but tbh I loathe musical comedy. if this is indeed a 1.5/5 then it’s probably in the upper tiers
