Mediocreatbest, could you explain to me why you didn't like In Years To Come? Don't wanna diss your opinion in the least, but that's one of my top favorite songs of all time. Those lyrics make me cry just reading them (I need you more than I'll ever know/until I stop breathing/my lungs will take you for granted)
This is in my top 5 favorite albums of all time. Pure, emotional, musical genius from beginning to end. This got me through some of the toughest times of my life. All the musicianship is absolutely incredible, and Dustin Kensrue is my favorite lyricist of all time. My personal favorites are In Years to Come, To Awake and Avenge the Dead, Trust, The Beltsville Crucible, and So Strange I Remember You (being my favorite Thrice song of all time).
Their other stuff is incredible too, though. Identity Crisis is an excellent punk breakthrough album where Thrice solidly puts their foot in the way of the door closing off excellent music in that genre. Highlights - T&C, Pheonix Ignition. Artist is pretty damn good, though a little too mainstream for me to really love it. Highlights - Stare At the Sun, Silhouette, Under A Killing Moon. Vhiessu is fucking INCREDIBLE, I accept wholeheartedly their genre change. It is a friggin masterpiece, very well thought out, and shows their musical maturity while still capturing their rawness from earlier times. Highlights - The Earth Will Shake, For Miles, Like Moths to Flame, Of Dust and Nations, Red Sky. And the Alchemy Indexes are pretty damn good as well. Thrice has really calmed the fuck down, I have to say, but there are still some standout tracks like Broken Lungs.
Sorry for the length, but Thrice is my favorite band =]

Album still owns. Such an awesome album to listen too during the summer.

I've never got into Thrice, but they seem really highly rated... I heard a few songs of theirs a while back and they seemed to be a bit too melodic for me. I may give them a try.. this seems to be the best album of theirs to start with judging by the comments.

Well, this is probably their most melodic in terms of guitar work to be honest.

Are they similar to Thursday?

Not really. More like kindred spirits. But yeah album slays. I must say though that I've been listening to Vheissu more often as it's a bit more mature/thought-out, and tbqfh the sound Thrice introduced on TIOS is utterly played-out from all the talentless copycats.

Well.. I'll give it a listen, but i dont know what to expect xD

This is the best Thrice album. Its so much better than any other post-hardcore band out there today. But you cant compare any Thrice album to each other. They are all so different.

A little over-zealous donthca think? They sound kinda... generic. The vocals are pretty cool, but the rest sounds like an extreme sports games crappy soundtrack. I really don't understand what is so great about these guys, its alright, at best

This is so much better than Artist in the Ambulance and Alchemy Index. Those are the only Thrice I've heard besides this and I pinned the band down to 3/3.5 territory, but this album has totally changed that.

Alchemy index, yes, over The Artist In The Amulance, no sir.....

This seems all the more heavier than Artist, and just more solid. Don't get me wrong, I really like Artist too, but I like this better. I didn't really like the Alchemy Index though.

Thing I love about Artist is that i can sit through every track enjoyably. The lack of filler makes me a positive patty. I heard this about three times and never put it on again but most people think it's better than Artist. Not sure but I think I should take this out again. Try Blacklisted for some good hardcore, off topic.

Yeah fair enough. Bottom line, they're both good albums. And will do, I think they're already on my list of bands to check out, just somehwere near the bottom.
