Gyro you've duped me so many times with fake ratings I might be a beautiful idiot but I'm not stupid

God dammit... I've been exposed. How do you both see right through me? It's like a super power

Cool album art + cool album title + I sort of casually liked Black Mile and would probably like it more if I gave it more time = hopeful about this release.

Sowing! You must have masturbated for hours to write this review. Of course we all read it!

But, seriously, this review has me hyped for a record I wasn't all that hyped for, and you're only responsible for like 70 percent of everything I listen to, so don't let me give you too much shit.

Nah I was just legit interested in asking because I'm secretly not very confident in this (literal) fever-induced writeup and didn't feel like it was up to my usual standards, so was considering rewriting but at this point who cares I guess!

I think the writing is clear and wonderfully descriptive. I think you get a little lost in the lyrics for a pre-release review, deep-dive write-ups are great, but they're only really accessible if you have access to the record too. It does read a little gushy, but that's just who you are and I'd be concerned if it wasn't. And, if I was your editor, I'd find 600 words to cut, just to make it a little more snappy and a little less daunting. (Not that I can talk - have you read my mewithoutYou reviews?)
But, I think I can easily say all your main objectives with this review were accomplished, there's just some bushwhacking for the reader to do. Asking for that investment and rewarding it isn't always such a bad thing.

Thanks. I may cut out some of the excess fat when I get a chance. I need to keep the metacritic quote but outside of that it's all fair game. Thanks fishing.

I trimmed it waaay down (from 2,371 words to 1,458 words). I think I'm a lot happier with it now. Can anyone confirm?

Waiting for the album to drop to give it a read with it as the soundtrack.
The way it's done.

@Sowing - I finished it this time and dug it. Great review. Musically is this more like Black Mile or Simple Math? I quite prefer SM so just curious what to expect since you draw a lot of parallels between the three

@Nash - Thank you! I appreciate the kind words, I put too much effort into this at first and then had to scale it back. This is closer to Black Mile in every way. It still has that sleek, epic production though. In my opinion, all three of them are actually pretty similar aesthetically.

New one reminds me of RAGC which is cool cause I always preferred that to MO

I fully accept blame.
I kind of wish the band didn't release Telepath already; that was such a gem that caught me off guard when I listened to the entire thing for the first time. Now it's just another single; I dunno - didn't strike me as a "single" type song especially compared to a few others that would have made phenomenal singles. But that's why they are the pros and I'm the spectator, I suppose!
