So disappointing. Was hoping they could pull a hopesfall and successfully pull off a huge comeback as the best band in the genre.
This just sounds like generic trash. Sounds like what every "metalcore" band puts out nowadays. From Jesse's completely absurd imitation of Karl to the surprisingly lackluster instrumentals, this is just such a huge disappointment. Some Dreams is probably the only song worth listening to. Cascade Locks is alright. The multiple 2019 live performances of Sunlifter sound FAR better than what came on the album.
Nothing in music will ever touch Of Malice, but this is just such a dropoff, especially considering this is the true MS lineup.

Call me crazy but I'd even argue that Counterparts' career is stronger than Misery Signals', despite how the latter clearly influenced the former.

yeah nothing new happens on this album but the songwriting is decent enough to elevate this above most modern metalcore acts.
And when I say decent, I mean decent. It's pretty good. But "pretty good" songwriting is miles above the standard formulas most bands in this genre seem to use. Honestly getting August Burns Red vibes
