I don't mind it, even enjoy it on a basic level, but I agree with that take for the most part. Poverty was the song that made me say "oh no" when it came out as a single. Ditched damn near everything that this band does well for basic heaviness. When people say they should do more songs like Poverty it's like no, fuck off, go listen to some generic "heavy" metalcore band if that's what you want, don't ask a band that actually has good songwriting ability to dumb it down for you.

First off I will not fuck off. Poverty of Self is a great track, if you don’t like heavy music then don’t listen to the band. I do wish they would release more songs like that but I’m not saying every song, just more. Currents is a fantastic band, don’t be a snob.

Where did I say that? Do you see my album rating? I don't take issue with heavy music, I do take issue with the kind of "heavy" that a lot of core kids try to push. Chug, chug, downtempo breakdown, chug, chug, growl. "omg so heavy." Not saying that Poverty is quite on that level of laziness, but it leans that way. You can be heavy and also be interesting, you don't have to sacrifice songwriting, but they did. As a one-off it's fine but it's still one of their worst songs.

Again, rating. I know they're fantastic, that's exactly why Poverty is a low point. Welcome to sputnik, where everyone is a snobby bitch from time to time, and many are snobby bitches 100% of the time.
