settling on a 3.5 here for now

I can only enjoy nick's vocals so much, and this isn't quite as engaging as plague

I think it overall has much more engaging songs than TPW, save for Victim of the Past and maybe An Eternity of Lies. I can understand not being a fan of the growls, but even they are much more refined here imo. It's all down to personal preference tho, but I really think this is their best album since Draconian Times. And as far as I'm concerned, they only had 2-3 mediocre albums in the meanwhile, so that's saying a lot I guess. This is their true magnum opus in a way. Not sure it'll ever top DT or even Icon, but this is pretty much a representation of their entire career condensed into 9 (11) songs, and I really can't imagine a more fitting version of that

A bit early to decide which I prefer between this and Plague, but they're both in my top 3 anyway, so props to them for those stellar late career achievements.

Great review mate, "the guitar work here is an undeniably obvious highlight, and a benchmark for the craft itself" yeah that's what I thought after listening to half of the thing, the album is fucking great, I think I like Plague a little more but lets see after more listens.

A paradise lost classic in 2020 lmao. Next you'll be telling me God has sanctioned a new edition of the Bible that includes all the events up to the battle of yavin

whenever i see so much hype surrounding an album in sputnik, i tread lightly, cause i know sputnikers tend to overreact at things...

in any case, this can't be a bigger-than a 4 rating simply because this band was never that good to begin with

yeah for the most part this band is just alright. their good albums are good though - icon, draconian times, plague within, and this

Need to revisit Draconian Times again, because last I jammed it there... was no connection with the album anymore.
