Doof’s assessment of their discog is spot on, with the slight caveat that I like Room On Fire a decent amount more than Is This It to the point of a solid 4. Haven’t heard this yet but I’m hoping it’ll be good.

Yeah Boney, just skim listening the first four on Room on Fire and they're so much better than this other than the opener, can't imagine Sowing could listen and not agree but...?

actually the 5th song on that album is also great and would be the 2nd best tune on this

'actually Is This It is perfect and not overhyped'

Is This It, if you like the style, is very singular I get that - very trad really

but I prefer the more angular/spiky sound of Room on Fire, has more of a wander around, is more interestingly produced, and tries out a few things

You have Paul Buchanan's album on a 4.5 so I'm going to give you big props for that gramps

Some people ask what's so special about the first song: well, for starters, how about those gut-wrenchingly nostalgic guitar lines at 1:44, remindful of a flock of seagulls (the band, not the birds), their song Space Age Love Song to be specific. This is just my opinion though, you guys feel free to agree or to have your very soul cursed forever...

Eternal Summer is such a massive jam and definitely the best song on the album.

Do you think the vocals in the chorus sound like vintage Pink Floyd?

I didn't until someone here brought it up.

I still do not.

'Psy-che-del-ic life-is-such-a...' etc

Sound very english and 70s prog to me :/

They're odd but I think I like them

Very 'The Wall' to me - 'leave those kids alone' etc

Overall the rest of the song is a bit too 'funky' backing music when the comedy star (say Will Ferrell or whatever) thinks he's cool, maybe trying to impress someone, or he's a stick in the mud cop going undercover or whatever, and finds 'his cool'. Or it just sounds like 2020 Tame Impala.

The last minute of the song is totally superfluous and boringly masturbatory/indulgent.

Oh vocally absolutely. I somehow misread what you said.

But nothing else about the song or the album feels very Pink Floyd to me.

Eternal summer is a rip-off of a psychedelic furs song
