Why We Ever is the best song she's released, that second half

think the new one is a decent step up from this, going from mid-low 3 to high 3

what is this what

simmer is fascinating. big thom eraser vibes, which i wouldn't have expected. shades of the best parts of my brightest diamond's songs. does huge hooks with inventive production (apart from the vocals which are sooooo hot and dry in the mix. would prefer more of that "wrap yourself in petals" fuckery but that's just me). probably would be best to hear with headphones before judging the vocal but it's SO LOUD outside of a very effective verse 2

but yeah this is a splendid surprise, looking forward to hearing more than just that tune

oh dang 'leave it alone'. really nice developing on that track too. this drumming is right in the pocket. love how sparse the arrangement's are allowed to be... the beginning of the song has like a big moment of just a dry shaker coming into the mix and it moves the song forward really well.

the strings sound like spitfire labs cellos. that's positive but it makes me unsure if they're actually performed but that doesn't really matter

leave it alone is VERY cool.

i guess i'm just doing a live tbt sorry folks

goddamn cinnamon's intro. love that high velocity sampled feel on that drum loop, got that noise gate feeling. interested to see how this becomes a song, but this is really neat.

yeah this is working for me really well. there's a cool shuffle developing. the vocal is still realllly hot in the mix but i love all the weird processing and breaks. this is the third really creative song re: groove/percussion. hahaha those triplets leading to the bridge are cheeky. real hard on that my brightest diamond reference there, but the less rhythmically driven feel phoebe bridgers... but really only that. there's a dope ass organ.

that was another jam

and i was wrong about the spitfire labs cello, they were human

i am indifferent to creepin' but it's still really cool. i've become complacent based on the first three songs. i love that faye-webster esque rnb melody that descends throughout it. i have the same trouble with the vocal level (but not consistently??)

sudden desire clicky percussion very nice. we have surrendered to the bass guitar chording the whole record and i'm down for it. not a huge initial fan of the chorus, but i like how it goes from 20% to 80% and then unapologetically back to 20%. the whole "companion" section is really sweet. yeah the whole hook and vibe of the chorus isn't very interesting to me, but the things in between are marvellous.

anyways overall very impressed and pleased with that listen. had no expectation for that, but it was good even if i had higher expectations. last two songs kind of winded down the experience, but yeah, huge jams in there

PFA II is more consistently interesting and dynamic imo, although Cinnamon might be the hardest jam. the production on every song has been absolutely stellar

I prefer this EP because I find this to be a lot more consistent and the pop offerings are more exciting here, but PFA II is still excellent
