odd how a guy can make an album about being depressed and wanting to kill himself and we all clap and say what a marvellous piece of art that is and then be shocked when he kills himself.
like i have never heard a more clear expression of suicidal attitude in art before, but somehow still it did not feel as true before he actually did it

this is a weird one in that it's obviously heartbreaking, lyrically and given the context
but the instrumentation and Berman's wry charm make it such a comforting, almost uplifting listen for me?

I jammed this last night for the first time in awhile, and like you mentioned with the instrumentation and Berman's wry charm, felt very much like a friend giving me a warm embrace, even with the depressive and heartbreaking lyrics and the album's context with Berman's passing a month after release
