For me to suspect the game could be good, and true to spirit, Akira Yamaoka and Masahiro Ito would both have to be in it, with a director from one of the original four games (any other members of Team Silent would be a bonus), several of whom work in Kojima productions now iirc.
But, if we're getting any kind of new Silent Hill, it has to have Yamaoka for me to be excited in the least. Downpour will never get another ounce of my attention because of his absence.

SH1 is, imo, the remake with the most potential of any game I can think of.
Sure, with an endless budget and 300 people and five years Xenogears would probably be incredible, but a great SH remake is actually reasonable lol.

Fuckin' Parasite Eve man. Another of my favorites. It actually holds up pretty well to this day, but I can see how combat would transition pretty well to modern systems. A third-person view like GoW for example. Can only imagine what that body horror shit would look like in the hands of Bluepoint.

Yeah SH1 reboot seems like the most logical step forward for the franchise. The last original titles have been garbage, it needs a back-to-basics approach, similar to the Resident Evil 2 remake.
There are also rumors that Bloober Team (Blair Witch, Layers of Fear, The Medium) are making the Silent Hill game, which I have mixed feelings on. They are able to deliver atmosphere, but feelings of fear or dread are completely absent. The horror feels empty to me in their titles

Just started replaying SH3 for the 5 millionth time, and not only is it still my all time favorite game, but that shit holds up incredibly. Maybe the controls are archaic, but it’s genuinely unsettling, and the graphics are wonderful, even today.
