The production is very brick-walled, constantly clipping or at least sounding like it is. It's like the gain on the microphones is way too high, judging by the constant static in the background. The guitar and bass are quite difficult to distinguish, as they are tuned down to oblivion. It reminds me of Brutalism's newest LP. I have some time to spare today, so I'll give this album in particular another chance, perhaps something changes. It wouldn't be the first time.
By the way guys, I apologize for my behavior yesterday, I was being a total douche nozzle. In particular to Hyperion.

It took me some time to get used to this Jurtz, it's a common thing. This album is like a 10000kg mammoth entering (trampling in) your brain and destroying everything. It takes a while to discern what's going on but once you do it just becomes an unforgettable experience. One of the heaviest albums of all time, and one of those rare exceptions where a brickwalled production fits in perfectly.

That makes a lot of sense. They do have a unique sound and that indeed can take some getting used to.

Pure caveman stupidity is the charm of this album imo, the amount of ridiculous moments that make me stank face are too damn high. Maybe shuffle Narcissistic Paraphallia into your daily commute or gym rotation, but don't sweat it if this never grabs you, just know it took me by my balls when it finally got me

So this is what being buried alive in a shallow grave and run over by a regiment of tanks feels like

"It's great but molesting is fantastic" This comment without context is why you should never tell your friends about death metal threads.

It's Sputnik, everybody has strong opinions here, including myself.
And how did you get in your head that I force myself to like bands?
Anyway, thanks for your opinion, unkind stranger.
You're just being a massive -you know what- for no good reason.

Instead of booing people away that don't get an album right away, you could try to put yourself in their shoes.
Oh wait, that would mean doing something nice for a total stranger, perhaps that isn't your "cup of tea"?

@thranth strange album to be weird over tbh, its obviously difficult even for people accustomed to death metal. It took me years to get it, but now it's my go-to death metal album; I don't know what is accomplished by shaming someone for continuing to try something that they didn't like at first

I listen to music all day every day. During work, during exercise, in the car. So yeah, things can change pretty quickly.
Why do you care so much though? What difference does it make in your life to just let someone be?

I think this counts for many people, but the albums that I love the most usually didn't click right away.
