When this came out I was a bit disappointed at first, compared with Vulgar Display Of Power it sounded too raw and disjointed. But in the course of the years it grew hard on me and the rawness is now a quality that keeps this album interesting to me. It just kicked in some day and now I enjoy every single track.

So apparently Dime lost a tape recorder packed with around 250 riffs he had planned to use on this album just prior to entering the studio, and wrote these entire songs on the fly within a couple of weeks. Vinnie and Rex practically wrote their parts around Dime's riffs while in the studio and all of Phil's vocals were recorded in single takes (with double tracking etc) to capture the raw energy of his live performances and give his vocals a natural flare.
Pretty incredible record considering it was thrown together in a matter of weeks.
Shedding skin is definitely the most underrated song they ever recorded.

Only songs I like are Strength Beyond Strength, I'm Broken, 5 Minutes Alone, Hard Lines Sunken Cheeks, 25 Years, Throes of Rejection, and Planet Caravan. Everything else either sucks or is just forgettable.
