Yeah Colors definitely is better. But still, I find Exoplanet way closer to Colors than I could ever find this similar to Exoplanet...

They're being compared because Exoplanet has been the de facto best deathcore album for years and this is being pushed forward as competition to that claim.
This has got Exoplanet beat on vocals but nothing else.

pretty good revierw, there is a comma missing IMO in the second sentence of the second paragraph
" In dropping the outlandish Halo themes found in both the debut and sophomore Melancholy is allowed "
IMO there should be a comma after sophomore.
as for the album itself, i agree with your rating, although I have it rated higher, the clean yell scream thing going on REALLY brings it down for me. it sounds forced (like you noted) and just all around not pleasing to listen to.
as a big deathcore fan however I am glad to see the genre seeing some recognition. it's actually a vast genre that people seem to write off much too easily as being "boring and generic core"

i really liked this, but based on community reception it feels almost like this album is being brigaded with positive reviews.
Even though i disagree, i appreciate this reviews honesty considering the album is on track to have one of the highest average scores of the year.

I only could compare this to Exoplanet if I only listened to kuduro, reggaeton and those 2 albuns...

The Exoplanet comparisons aren't direct, it's moreso just about their overall quality and whether one is better than the other in the realm of deathcore.

They're practically different genres anyway...I obviously like one more than the other but to try and compare them shows absolute lack of musical knowledge. Its stupid all the way...Im just catching these exo comparisons on too many threads. You don t like kuduro Steak? X)

"The featured track/artist is a nice touch but Melancholy would actually be [slightly] better off if “Barren and Breathless Macrocosm” was cut from the album."

All the songs are bops, and I really appreciate that there's more than enough variety for me to know immediately which one I'm listening to.

also if you think this is really comparable to Colors (or anything post-2005 from BTBAM) then you're probably smokin too much

Comparisons to exoplanet are weird, this is very different music overall
No one complained when I put it on facebook in the "melodic death metal" group. And trust me, they'll be the first to post comments like "cool but this is not mdm"
