Are we all in agreement Purple is better than this?

I don't get the high scores. I really don't.
Yeah upon first listen I find myself wanting to listen to Purple (or Red). I ought to either lower this or bump Purple up.

lol absolutely not agreeing that purple is better than this. Purple was super boring and mostly felt like b-sides from Yellow

Had a few bangers though.
Will return to both over the next few days and make sure but right now I'm thinking Purple was stronger.

I think I need to check these guys.

Kerosene and If I Have to Wake Up are the only ones I find myself returning to, but I should probably revisit again.

I don't know if y'all poisoned my mind, or if the production really is this awful, haha. It's distracting the shit out of me.
|
| |
After one spin, I couldn't really get into it. Will have to listen to this again.

Just wondering if this album is conceptual. Based on what I’ve picked up in the lyrics it’s based on the apocalypse, whether started by war or something else. Love the album so far. It’s miles above Yellow and Green and maybe a bit better than Purple for me

Good review but this album is disappointing. Seasons is the only great song on here
Tourniquet is decent and the closer isn’t bad and a couple of others are passable but as a 17 song album
It’s very underwhelming. And as someone pointed out throw me an anchor sounds like a rehashed shock me
|
| |
Anchor is better than Shock Me imo

Yeah it’s quite good I’m more of a fan of purple than this. The sound of the cymbals makes my ears bleed on some of the songs
|
| |
Lmao highest Metacritic score ever or some ish. That's a warning sign if ever there was one.
Then again, a low Doof rating is a positive indicator.
On balance I'm gonna go ahead and give it a listen cause I like (love) this band's album art.

If you went straight from listening to this album, go watch their Kerrang tiny dive bar set (I was there for that, actually!). The difference in production is ASTONISHING on the Gold & Grey (as well as Purple) songs.

My consensus on this album though? The songs are great, the production is tragically bad. This would've been a 4 for me if it wasn't for the latter.

Im fine woth the current line-up, bass n drums are fantastic. Album is a bit of a let down. Slow and unnerving, I like some of the slower moments but they're unevenly distributed. "I'd do anything" is a bit lesser in quality. I love the ambient-y Blankets of Ash, tho.

Whatever, get back to me when you get back from your incoming ban for that Denzel soundoff :/

I mean me and Doof agree on quite a bit of things but this is just one where we disagree cuz it’s great
