"If they did it well (and made more noticeable changes), it wouldnt be as much of a problem. im just making the point that they have hardly changed at all and the miniscule amount of new things they did do are predictable fluff. Instead of an acoustic intro, maybe actually incorporate the acoustic into the song instead of lazily tacking it on at the start, for example."
Yeah, I get what you're saying and that would have been cool to do. I'm just happy they are at least attempting something different. And of course our opinions differ on the effectiveness of this.

Agreed 100% about this album being a chore to get through.
I personally don't feel they've expanded their sound much at all. Just a few minor things here and there but not enough to keep it interesting imo

Well, this blew about as much as I imagined it would.

they should try actual viking metal on the next one. it'll bring the trve metalheads back in while providing enough pagan fistbumps ov glory for the moshbr0s.

It’s really not that boring at all imo. I mean it’s typical Amon Amarth. Nice melody, nice riffs and a solid overall effort. I completely understand the complaints though tbh lol.

It's okay, standard melodeath. Kind of ironic for people to praise twilight and hate on this though
Same level material tbh

Ehhhh idk Twilight and Oden are classic melodeath albums for me. This isn’t terrible by any stretch of the imagination though. Def an entertaining listen.

No it's not ironic at all. What would be ironic is to love this album and say that their previous efforts are uninspired and trite.

It's quite good, but I wish there were a bit more epic sounding tracks lie the older albums have.

jomsviking was an interesting direction, this was just banal and forgettable

Absolutely Forgettable

Felt like giving this a 3 was too generous after all. Somehow they just sound bored on this album.

The cover encapsulates the current state of Amon Amarth perfectly. They went from the beautifully crafted art of the past to this kind of gross digital shit. The digital art will get the job done, but nothing more, much like the album itself. It gets the job done, it has some riffs, it’s competent, but it just doesn’t feel like it’s made with any real care or heart.

Uhm... haven't nearly all their covers been produced digitally? They're certainly not made by hand.

the album is not so mediocre or bad, but we always hear the same thing from Amon Amarth.

Once Sent from the Golden Hall is an actual photograph of them in front of the flaming gates of Valhalla

This:
''Instead of an acoustic intro, maybe actually incorporate the acoustic into the song instead of lazily tacking it on at the start, for example.''
And this:
''It gets the job done, it has some riffs, it’s competent, but it just doesn’t feel like it’s made with any real care or heart.''
