Extremely laid back but when you're in the mood for it it's excellent

It's a really strong album, but upon first listen not really perfect. "Side of the Road" was a brilliant closer though!

Best Beck tbh. I know many people prefer the more fun Beck, but this album has always resonated more strongly with me than his other works, which haven't aged as well.

I don't see me liking this more than Odelay or Guero to be honest, but it is good.

Odelay is undoubtedly awesome, it just has had diminishing returns for me. I find this more consistently rewarding. Though this type of sad sap stuff is very much my kind of thing in general, so it makes sense that I prefer this.

Honestly, this album could have used even more string sections, every track that had strings was super strong. It's like Beck wanted to go baroque pop, but ended up being like "nah I'm just going to tease baroque pop in favor of acoustic indie"

Album is better than the remake that won the Grammy

I've only heard 2 songs from Morning Phase and I already know that it's different enough from this.

Exactly the same

Think they changed the colour palette for the album sleeve

Morning Phase is Beck revisiting the same sounds and song ideas after all the most obvious and natural melodies that came to him originally have been used up

I'll give you my opinion when I get to it, but I'm probably checking One Foot in the Grave, The Information, and Modern Guilt first haha so I hope you're around a year from now so we can settle it lol
