I admit I also thought of Mew. Thankfully I really like that band.

"honestly this is a breath of fresh air
kek"
I mean it's kinda hard to argue that this isn't different or that it doesn't have a refreshing, upbeat atmosphere compared to most similar shoegazey black metal groups...right?

It's good but I really don't see what is it about this that makes it black metal.

hahahaha i wasn't even thinking that far dude; you used the phrase "breath of fresh //air//" in a thread where comparisons to the previous record have been a conversation topic. it is even funnier when considering you haven't (to my knowledge) jammed the debut. i thought that was an intentional little gag, don't mind me lmao

From the band, in reference to genre identification etc.
"Daniel: Our label came up with ‘dream thrash’ when we submitted the final mix of the song Air.
Brett: As long as we are not defined as black metal or post black metal, I’m happy. But the music is definitely sourced more from blackened shoegaze or black metal than thrash.
Brett: The early stuff we played was definitely post black metal, but the newer stuff and Air was pulled more from dreampop and shoegaze.
Casey: I think when you see us live, there are a lot of staples of metal, we have blast beats, tremolo picking and all that stuff, but at the end of the day, we’re just a f!@#ing rock band.
Daniel: Yea, we’re just doing something different with metal."

I keep seeing Mew brought up so I decided to check them out. Fuckin cool man. Reminds me of an amalgamation of Mae, Phoenix, and The Animal Collective, but it depends on the song and some are really out there.
I just wish all of their songs were as catchy as Twist Quest. I'm in love with that track.

btw to all the people that say this is stale and nothing new, please bring me any band that does their same type of music to the table plz
Oh wait, there's none
You can say you don't like it, I find it pretty unmemorable on some parts so I could get it, but saying this is stale or already heard is just a lie.

@LunaticSoul think people are saying it's a stale version of their debut, which would be correct

It's fresh on the first track and stale by the end because I think this band might be a one trick pony

I wasn't really feeling this at first, but WOW, this is a strong grower. Might be better than Air.
