anyone else take exception to the categorisation of this album as "noise pop"? nothing particularly noisy here to my ears; about as much distortion and noise as a common post-hardcore/alt rock record. tangentially i feel like the tags "noise rock" and "noise pop" are thrown around needlessly these days, particularly in places like rym

Agreed, to me this is abrasive j-pop with post-hardcore nods. RYM do like their noise pop tag.

I'd maybe call the t/t noise pop in the way it rides off distortion, and perhaps the opener, but that's about it. Can't remember if I pigeonholed it as such in the rev but will eventually edit to noisey pop/whatever if so lol
