Agree about the Sinatra/Elvis songs, I actually removed them so they don't disturb the mood.

"One More Kiss, Dear" from the original Bladerunner felt much more in tone with the rest of the soundtrack.

I forgot about the songs by other artists haha, I have my iTunes library organized by artist, so for this album it just shows the tracks by Hans and Benjamin which is fine by me.

"Alien>Aliens"

This is the biggest brainwashing conspiracy ever orchestrated by Hollywood. Don't be a victim

Praise the sequel as much as you want but you won't find a single moment in it as powerful as that monologue.

I get chills every time man, so powerful.

Just thinking about it chokes me up a bit.

Ruther Hauer is the man.

Anyone ever play the mid 90s computer game.

The Roy Batty equivalent is on his death bed reciting some poignant piece of poetry which you can abruptly end by putting a bullet in him leading to your character saying something like “I never did like poetry” or something to that effect.

Classic.

"Damn, we turn this soundtrack thread to a cinema thread."

Love me some cinema - I've been a moderator on a film site since 2003.

Anyway, both the original and the sequel are fantastic in their own right. I will agree with Talon in that the original perhaps broke more ground in regards to visual aesthetics, but the existential stuff in regards to AI sentience hadn't been explored in film in any great depth, even if it had been approached in literature. That said, I think the original Blade Runner combines to be more than the sum of its parts, and no one can deny its subsequent influence on science fiction.

The new film expanded on all the ideas of the first without trashing the existential mystery, and as someone else mentioned, the choice to not definitively state an answer to the replicant question was the right choice.

And so I am not completely off-topic, the soundtrack is just fantastic, start to finish.

You sound like my wife who genuinely says that it’s the worst film she’s ever seen.
