I've listened to Precam a bunch of times but what I get from that album is a band that's trying to find their footing in their lane of music, the album is very sporadic, piano comes in out of nowhere etc. etc. the mix is a little bit rough, I like Phanerozoic better because it has a better mix, the vocalist is annunciating the words more fluently, and there isn't as much overblown fluff as what Precambrian encapsulated

Looking at your ratings there's absolutely no way you don't enjoy 'overblown fluff'... but I guess Precambrian is meticulously crafted & everything has a purpose, unlike albums such as 'Colors'.

Neither am I, just thought it was an odd comment from someone who's usually so quick to embrace all the 'worst' elements of modern prog. 'Worst' meaning the overblown, techy, let's-fit-a-million-ideas into one song & abandon restraint or cohesion type nonsense. All in the eye of the beholder though of course.

Yeah I can see that, even otherwise excellent albums can be criticised for even the most minor of issues. Sorry guys, apparently I now have a persona, so just maintaining it now.
