They're really hyping the hell out of this movie

Calling It Follows pretentious is just lol.

It Follows is up there with the best.

Honestly there are so so few even decent horror movies that Halloween seems alright. As someone said earlier in the thread.
Even stuff like It Follows and Babadook weren't really THAT amazing. The genre has just always been a giant disappointment, you get a few passable attempts at a good movie every decade. I'm just a dude and no filmmaker but I've always felt like there's so much untapped potential in the genre. A lot of horror might have a brilliant idea or two but these movies can almost never combine good ideas + good plot + good character development into the same film. It's just an inconsistent shitfest, and then we have the problem that all the movies are aping each other when basically none of them are even good in the first place. Insanity.

This movie had good moments but was overall a disappointment that just had me feeling like the whole movie is unnecessary. It feels like they just did H20 again, just a little bit better. I'm glad we got new Carpenter music though.

"Hereditary is fuckin overrated as shit but its good
It's basically just the Witch but takes place now and throws away all the tension and depth with an asinine third act"
I don't see that analogy at all. lol

Twin Peaks is absolutely absurd but if it's stupid it's deliberately so for the laugh
Hereditary is... ya what that other dude said the entire last 30 minutes of that movie was fucking laughable and so so silly

agreed with the witch part. disagreed with the tension and depth being gone. that visual of the mom with the piano wire was unsettling as fuck

yep, this thread is a dumpster fire, just as I expected. How about we talk about the fuckin' album guys? Cause it's excellent. I really love Halloween Triumphant especially. Carpenter is such a great artist.

The Wailing is more of a mystery-thriller but to me it's a better horror movie than most of these new ones playing in theaters. Hell it's one of my favorite movies period.
Japan also has some seriously great horror movies tho. Kairo, Cure, Noroi etc

I missed out on the initial pre-order of this on vinyl with all the cool trinkets, so I'm in no rush to buy it on vinyl. Might just get a copy of it on cd

The vvitch is the best horror movie to come out in years.
Looking forward to seeing this Halloween in theatres tho, it looks good
also as far as zombie goes why does he have to film everything so zoomed in?

Saw good reviews for the movie, maybe I'll check it out. I've always been a hardcore old skool horror junkie and hated almost every remake they've ever made. I know this isn't a remake, but usually when they bring back legendary characters now they style of movies is so different I can't get into it. They all rely on jump scares only and they always have to have some "wacky" character with one liners that aren't funny that the audience is supposed to love.
