Yeah Evo, I noticed that as well with Bogren's work on the remakes. My thoughts were, "This sounds a bit better than the actual album, but at the same time, this is the worst thing Bogren's been a part of ever." It lacks the warmth and space of the Hageshisa To single and especially Katatonia's The Great Cold Distance. The fact that he didn't master them as well could be the root problem.

Would anyone be so kind as to provide a 320kbps rip of disc 2? I got the album on iTunes but I’m really bummed that it didn’t come with the bonus tracks and I can’t find them anywhere besides YouTube.

2 spins so far, one for listening, the other for EQ.

By Grabthar's Hammer... even with a pair of ATH-M50X's: constantly shifting the lower end to compensate for the horrifically flatter drums. And each one or two songs would need re-adjustment. Metallica should take note on bumping up their bassist like Toshiya here, though.

Diruggies here are a bit spoiled after being served top tier steak for the past 4 albums. Glad to see the band having fun and sidestepping fan expectations. And if they throw out a re-release later on with a better mastering job? This too shall pass.

@auber

Sorted you out.

Not sure if this will ever get a remaster with the names that worked on it, but seeing that people have been more vocal than usual about the sound, who knows...

They should just ship us pre-amps at this point.

no band should ever, ever get a guy with the nickname "Big Bass" to master anything.

Yeah I’m one of them spoiled Diruggies, hahaha. I’ve warmed up to the album and enjoy it quite a lot now after well deserved relistens (though it’s time I think to put it aside for a few weeks before I wear it out, lol). It definitely surprised me that’s for sure.

It's grown on me too, but I can't see it ever stretching past a 3.5. It's solid, but there's so many glaring flaws

My copy came, here's my opinion no one asked for.

The production is so bad I can't enjoy the album, but the songs are going to be really fun live and I can't wait for the show.

@CI: Good point. I'm about 5 minutes away from taking the question "Will Dir en grey remaster The Insulated World?" to betdsi, tho.

If I listen to the album on speakers w/a decent subwoofer like the ones I use for my turntable, it sounds OK. It’s just a terrible sounding album on headphones/earphones.

Hope you have fun at the show Calc, the setlist so far looks great! A lot more variety than their 2015 overseas tours. It’d be great if and when they tour the states, it’d look similar to the EU tour’s setlist. Curious to know, is the EU version of the CD is similar to the Japanese 2CD edition with the abridged bonus disc?

Partially, yes. It has "Kigan" as a bonus track.

The production is fucking horrible, but it's not enough to completely derail the album lol

It is for me unfortunately Gonzo :/

Every great moment has its life sucked out of it, it's gonna take an amazing live to elevate this close to previous standards.

You could have a Godly album musically but it means nothing to me if it's played with trash cans.

Either way, nothing I can do other than support them on tour and just like the final chorus on this album, hope for them to be stronger the next era.
