yeah i'm taken aback by just how much this consistently grooves and bangs boizz m/
|
| |
The mix might be kinda bad but honestly I think it serves the album in a way, like I’m hearing it through a haze

a black haze?

There you go

At first listen, it seems that the album has a more loose and organic vibe than At War with Reality. I'm glad they've kept the slayer-esque riffs.

is it just me or does the self titled track sound like trivium or some shit

Album Rating: 4.5
I don't know I kind of like mixing/mastering here. It's serving the more atmospheric and dark approach they are going for with the arrangements and vibe but still has enough of low end to get that bit of oumphh! I also like his vox placed further back in the mix which really blends with the rest
Feels like an improvement from at war

| |
I don’t see any similarities to Trivium at all
This keeps growing on me more and more

I really do not understand what people expect from At The Gates album. Great riffs ?, 90's hoarse sound ? or Vocal performance ? its all in this album and best album of year for me.

Yeah this is definitely my favorite release from them, wonderful incorporation of melody into some fun, intense riffage.

In Nameless Sleep is great, love the time change in the last quarter

With all the good songs on this, it's crazy that they chose the two they did as the first singles since they're the worst on the album.
|
| |
So far this is a solid 3-weak 3.5 for me. Let's see if this grows or wears off over the next couple of weeks or so.
Same thing I'll see with new Amorphis.

Mmm...
This album has so many great tracks. Last three songs particularly stood out during this listening.
Seas of Starvation and In Death They Shall Burn are incredible tunes.
|
| |
Every track is good tbh. I really love In Nameless Sleep and The Colours of the Beast
|
| |
Yeah The Colours of the Beast rules too.
This album flows very well.
|
| |
It goes by really fast. Same for their last album too
