Woo is the weakest track even if it’s the most “different” thing here.

tbh the middle section (L'Innconue - Lose Your Smile) is the best part
Last Ride is nice, but kinda feels underwhelming as a closer. Days of Candy still holds the "best closer" crown for me.

The singles were cool, i loved black car and dive and lemon glow is pretty neat, too.

Last Ride is my favorite here but Days of Candy destroys it yeah

Days of candy fuck yeah. Last ride is good, so is l'inconnue. Still think this is their weakest album

Thing with this album is it feels like the most commercial thing they’ve ever produced. It all feels very professional and these songs seem suited to the festival circuit in a way that they never have before. Not that that’s inherently a bad thing but it does feel like something’s misssing here.

nah, this don't feel comercial at all to me. It does sound more structured and the production aspect sounds more professional, so i get why you'd get that feeling, tho.

Maybe commercial is the wrong word; professional is more what I meant

depression cherry is their best by far but this is prolly 2 for me

@Boney: I can see that, but I'd argue that the production also gives each instrument more time to shine. It's glossy, sure, but also pretty detailed and atmospheric. As I said in the review, it doesn't surprise me at all that someone associated with Panda Bear helped produce this

is this a good place to start, or does it matter? I enjoy starting with bands latest releases then work backwards; the de-evolution is nice.

See, I've always been the other say around; I love hearing a band evolve from their debut onward. That's especially true for artists who change considerably over time, like Death, David Bowie, Radiohead, etc.

Start with Devotion and go onward. The debut is kinda so-so, but not the best starting point.
