Why do the band members each look like they've aged 10 years and each has a successful remarried ex-wife and 2 kids who hate them for being losers

What a waste of a great band. Everyone besides Alex Turner just sits in the back doing nothing while Alex Turner goes on and on and on

If this album makes the top 200 Sput list at the end of the year I guess you are proven right
If it doesn't...

I've heard nothing but the ten seconds of nondescript music from the teaser trailer. Predicting a light 2

"Why do the band members each look like they've aged 10 years and each has a successful remarried ex-wife and 2 kids who hate them for being losers"
cause of LSD excess I suppose. They took too much and left nothing for us here...

a Rowan 4.1 confirms I shouldn't bother with this =)

Why sign up to a rating website if you totally dismiss public consensus? Also, Arctic Monkeys are very mainstream and generally an 'agreeable' sort of band - so if they drop as low as a 3 score or what have you and get 500+ votes...that's an undeniable sort of statement.
Still, I sort of get what the appeal could be for this album, so fair enough - enjoy it. The Bowie aping is...well I like Bowie, most people like Bowie! So there's that. Alex isn't the first and he won't be the last to go there.

call me crazy, but was this album ever even announced in advance? I was checking up on how the AMs were doing literally just a couple months ago, and they were still recorded as officially being "On Hiatus", with no news/announcements AT ALL about a potential new album in the works. Did it really come out of nowhere?

One jukebox that only plays 'Young Americans', a pub lock in 'til the early hours...all resulting in one hell of an ill advised karaoke session.
Someone must have rolled the tape and released it for a giggle.

I dunno Doof. This is the sound of a band growing up and going in the right direction while still retaining the cheek and vigour.
There’s some career bests on here, its not earth shattering but it’s a rich listen and worthy of people’s attention before binning it.

Never bothered listening to this band and nothing about them remotely interests me at all.

more than half of the songs here begin the exact same way.. dutifully following qotsa's suit in absolutely wasting a killer drummer too..

It sorta meanders on. Nothing particularly bad but i'm not quite sure what i'm supposed to feel listening to this. Someone mentioned it sounds like Alex Turner reading a trip adviser review and the rest of the band is trying to find out how to find the mood of that on their own. Sounds about right to me.
