does The Moss Beneath The Snow give anyone else some Grace Cathedral Park vibes in its first half?

It his album is kilin' it ! At the moment, the first half is a 4.25 for me, and the second half is a 3.5-to-3.75.

"The Moss Beneath the Snow" is an orgasm fest. What a stellar track.

You're absolutely not alone, Atari. That, and En Hvit Ravns Død are my (metal) faves from the record.

First half is definitely a grower. Appreciating it more the more I listen to it. Second half is a tiny bit of a shrinker, but it's still undeniably cool.

I only heard this and their last album. Are the earlier albums different?

Kentucky is similar to this one. Collapse and social disservices have way less samples and nature stuff in them but it's not too radically different.

The second half didn't grab me the way the first half did. And it's certainly not because I don't love bluegrass or folk; I love both of those genres. I think his "clean" vocals grate on me a little bit.

Agreed, 1.5 is kinda an exaggerated score. There's no way this is actually a 3/10 but whatever, maybe he's just got a problem with the band and wants the average to go down. I can't hate on that because I do the exact opposite and rate things higher than I feel because I want the avg. to go up on bands I like so people are more likely to check them out.

Btw...

This album kicks ass bro, come on.

Looks like Melon agrees with me.

"maybe he's just got a problem with the band and wants the average to go down. "

I never do this. I think this is bad. Way bellow average enjoyment for me. I Like Inquisition and Cobalt but for the most part American Black metal never interests me.
