"That is my impression with the first listen. I found some cool different things tbh but not sure if its enough to give them identity to overcome that reference ...i have to give this more tries"
its a bit less party a bit more hardcore which is nice, think i prefer their take on things more tbh

ok i definitely see late Poison The Well on this to, that may give them a more serious and emotional feel/ approach which is very positive indeed for me. I'm for sure giving full attention to this.
but that party - ETID thing is giving ETID a false overlook not to take the band serious...when the truth is that their last 3 records fucking rule. They are far from a parody band...and they kind of invented practically everything these guys are trying to do here.

I only heard their most recent album and it pales in comparison to this

Man 2018 is really bringing the releases so far.

you're comparing to a 8th record from an established band that practically invented a sub-genre. Also comparing with a 4.1 sputnik album with 657 votes. The 3 before are 4's with more than 1000 votes.
It would be an awesome if this goes in that direction!
I don't like that kind of diminishing just to get the hype proved. I like this a lot but don't think it's original for now.

@MarsKid c'mon man, we've been on the same page until you dropped that blasphemy. Low Teens is by far a step ahead of this album, not a big step, but it surely doesn't pale in comparison to this. Also, this band clearly is influenced by ETID (and Norma Jean, TDEP, and Deftones ;).

@Steak you know it my man. I've seen them 5 times and they have rocked my face off every time. Only band that consistently brings that energy and hypes me up that way.

^ Agreed, the only part I'm not a fan of is the overpreachy outro of the intro track but besides that this is the fucking jaaaaaammmmmm. Sat down and learned Mortality Rate on the guitar yesterday and it is so much fun to play

I'm seeing ETID a week from today, which will knock my shit off. One of my favorite overall bands so the anti-Low Teens comments hurt a little.
Anyway, there's far more here present than just nods and rip-offs. There's a combination of influences, sure, but there's also experimentation and a level of comfort and maturity already present in the sound that is unexpected.

RIP Mars.
I do think you were right though about classic metalcore possibly having a resurgence. That would be sick as fuck.

1 try to reason your opinions instead of making them look as "absolute truths"
2 be positive
3 go listen to ETID if you like this as much as I m/ and let's hype this shit up
also agree, metalcore needs more things like this - with heart ahead of formulas
