Its a bit of both, but honestly it kind of has a whole new sound. The production is really good, and the riffs are much meatier than usual. A lot more groove going on. First two tracks are definitely Painkiller esque.

They really managed to smoothly bond old trademark Priest elements with a new sound. The result speaks for itself.

Redeemer has a few good cuts -- Battle Cry is my favorite, with Valhalla and Dragonaut also worth checking out.

I feel like they were recording "Flame Thrower" and Andy stopped them mid-song like,

"Guys, we can't have the only interesting thing in this song be Scott's shuffle beat. Um...Rob, do something weird in the chorus."

And Rob was kinda confused so he kept looking over at Andy during the take while singing, "Flame thrower...er?!"

And Tom was like, "Yeah, that's cool! That progression would have fit perfectly on the last Priest album I worked on!"

And Ian was like, "Shut up, there's a reason we fired you after that weird piece of crap."

But he's the bassist so only Richie heard him. And nobody had any better ideas, as evidenced by the song ending with just its title repeated four times, and that's how that chorus thing happened.

Interesting to see love for this album.

I think I may have heard some of it, but frankly I've no opinion on the album.
