Johnny, glad you see that, I mean I'm not worked up by them - in fact part of me wants to like them because of the fact they're 'sort of' punks and why not? I mean you boil it down and they're pro equality - all fine.
Something goes wrong along the way though and it all comes out a bit embarrassing, unpleasant and ill considered.

Man, i usually just stop at 0/5 for a bad track. Good on you for challenging conventions, doof
@adolf I think they're both high 3.0s, pretty similar

"When she saw that I tattooed my hands/I said, "Mum, I don't think I was ever gonna work for the bank"/And I said that I was sorry about that line/I only wrote it cause it rhymed"
This album has its moments. The Omen, Animal & Real, and UFO Lighter are about on par with some of the highs on their debut.

Doofus, if you're implying I'm not capable at reviewing this, I may be inclined to break you over that step ladder, ride you down like a teaser pony, and paint this room a whole different color.

do you see your rating going up at all Blush? found with the first record also that it grew on me quite a bit with repeat listens. If you're willing to get over the instrumental simplicity and focus on the songs and lyrics it can be pretty rewarding

I'm glad to be completely removed from the political background of this one lol. The contents of the release itself aren't really political from what I could tell, "Opener" notwithstanding.

yeah from what I can tell these guys are just worse Hop Along musically as well as the whole "white man are the devil" narrative is soo small minded so I'm just going to go ahead and not check this one past the first listen of the whole LP

like just read this interview.
https://www.stereogum.com/1984671/camp-cope-on-fighting-industry-sexism-embracing-activism-and-letting-your-audience-change/franchises/interview/
"you have to wonder why people are so quick to criticize three strong women. It’s like the Kardashians. People hate them, but why?"
Maybe it's because the Kardashians are a drain on society, contribute nothing of substance, and actively make people more unintelligent? Maybe it isn't immediately some thing about sexism?

I really don't think this album pushes an agenda in its content alone. The group behind it, yes, but few of the tracks here reference beliefs and circle more around relationship drama. Is it still pulled off poorly? Yes. But not for the reasons I've been seeing.
